One president of the time was Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton was president from 1993 - 2001.
With Bill Clinton our country enjoyed more peace and economic well being than any other time period in our history.
He had the lowest unemployment rates in modern time. Also during his time we had the lowest inflation in 30 years. Our people had the highest home ownership ever, in, many different places crime rates were dropping, and welfare rolls decreased. (Whitehouse.gov)

He wanted legislation to better education, protect jobs of parents who have to care for sick children, restrict handgun sales, and strengthen environmental rules.
Bill Clinton signed the Family and Medical Leaves Act to require certain companies to allow up to twelve weeks unpaid leave to qualifying employees in the event of family or medical emergencies. The goal was to give employees job security during times of crisis. (Whitehpuse.gov, thinkquest.org)

With a growing national debt, one of his top priorities was to cut the federal spending. His proposal was designed to reduce the deficit in the long run, while using short- term techniques to encourage the economy. The short term part of the plan was killed by congress, but the rest was approved. (whitehouse.gov)

He also got rid of a ban on homosexuals in the military, as long as they did not engage in homosexual behavior and remained quite about their sexual preferance, while in the military. (thinkquest.org)
